Most of the recipes you see on my blog are a result of me not wanting to throw away food that soon will expire. I am always looking for new ways of how to use ingredients in new recipes instead of letting them go to waste. I had some caramelized milk left in a jar and thought of using it as a filling for chocolate chip cookies as I’ve seen a lot of people filling their cookies with things like nutella. And the result was SO delicious! You really need to try this one out. This recipe gives you a set of seven crisp cookies.
Ingredients:
100 g butter
0,5 cup granulated sugar
0,25 cup light syrup
1 egg
0,75 cups flour
2 tbsp cocoa
0.5 tsp baking soda
0.5 tsp salt
0.5 tsp vanilla
125g dark chocolate
caramelized milk
0,5 cup granulated sugar
0,25 cup light syrup
1 egg
0,75 cups flour
2 tbsp cocoa
0.5 tsp baking soda
0.5 tsp salt
0.5 tsp vanilla
125g dark chocolate
caramelized milk
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celsius.
2. Melt the butter over low heat in a saucepan. Pour into a bowl and let cool, it’s important that the butter is not hot when mixed with the other ingredients as chocolate risk of melting!
3. Chop the chocolate into coarse pieces.
4. Add the powdered sugar, syrup and eggs to butter.
5. Mix the baking soda, cocoa, salt and vanilla sugar in the flour in another bowl and stir into the other ingredients along with the chopped chocolate.
6. Filling your cookies is not as tricky as you might think. Take a dollop of batter in your hand and make a hole with your thumb. Add 1-2 tablespoons of caramelized milk and put in the hole. Take more batter and cover the caramelized milk. Roll into a ball and flatten slightly. Place on the baking sheet. They will melt out so make sure you make a lot of distance between the cookies.
7. Bake the cookies in the oven for about 10 minutes. They should still be soft in the middle if you want brittle cookies that melt in your mouth. Let the cookies cool on a rack and not on the baking tray!
