Igår var mamma på besök och det finns ingen kaka som hon tycker om så mycket som sockerkaka så det fick bli det som jag bjöd på fikat efter maten tillsammans med marockanskt myntate. Sockerkaka är enkel, god och klassisk kaka som går hem hos de flesta. Denna valde jag att smaksätta med apelsinskal samt dekorera med chokladglasyr gjort på apelsinkrokant. Mums!

My mother came to visist yesterday and there is no cake that she enjoys so much as sponge cake. The one I made for her yesterday was flavoured with orange zest and chocolate orange croquante. Yum!
Ingredients (sponge cake):
50 g butter
1 dl milk
3 eggs
2.5 dl granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3.5 dl flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch of salt
grated zest of one orange
Chocolate orange croquante 50 g, 50 g of dark chocolate and 2 tablespoons neutral oil to glaze.

Do this:
1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees celsius.
2. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
3. Whisk together eggs, granulated sugar and vanilla sugar in a bowl until it becomes white and fluffy.
4. Stir the milk into the butter and add it to the egg mixture.
5. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt in another bowl. Add them into the mixture along with grated orange peel and turn into a smooth batter. Save a bit of orange peel for garnish.
6. Grease the baking pan or spray with non-stick spray and pour in the batter. Bake in middle of oven for about 35 minutes.
7. Allow the cake to cool completely before you garnish with chocolate. Let stand in the refrigerator for a while before.
8. Melt together chocolate orange croquante and dark chocolate over a water bath or in the microwave. Mix in oil and garnish the cake with chocolate icing and grated orange peel.
